Abstract: For Wuyang Mine 7810 large section roadway with top heading, FLAC3D numerical simulation software was used to establish the excavation model, and the deformation characteristics of the roadway surrounding rock were studied. The results showed that when the coal seam roadway mining, the deformation of the two sides > the deformation of the bottom plate > the deformation of the top plate, and when the roadway was supported, the strength of the top plate support can be reduced appropriately. Based on the research results, "2-2" step-by-step arrangement of roof anchor cable and the anchor cable spacing were adopted. The results of the field application showed that the maximum displacement of the top and bottom slabs was 35 mm and the maximum displacement of the two sides was 24 mm, both of which were less than 40 mm, the surrounding rock of the roadway was stable and the support effect was good, which provided reference for the roadway support under similar geological conditions.
