Coal group under west well of Xingtai Mine was threatened by disasters of roof graphite aquifer, ash aquifer and Ordovician limestone aquifer in exploitation process. The development of fault, collapse column and crushed zone under field, not only became supply chutes of conducting these aquifers, but became water inrush channel entering into roadway system of bottom coal. Exploration and governance of traditional underground drilling method to fault had difficulties in time consuming and serious dangerousness. Through research practices of Xingtai Mine, new method of “area ahead of ground treatment” was adopted to guide water control technique work of bottom coal group in West Well on the basis of water principles of “forecast and prediction, exploring doubts, digging after probing and mining after curing”.
