The corrosion mechanism of the tube air preheater in a gas-fired boiler was investigated in this study through analysis of operating conditions, macroscopic examination, chemical composition analysis, metallographic analysis, hardness analysis, and energy spectrum analysis. The findings indicate that the combination of fly ash and sulfur content generated from phenol wastewater mixing can expedite the corrosion process of enamel air preheater pipes. Additionally, the quality of the enamel pipes themselves also plays a significant role in promoting corrosion.
