The safety evaluation of the Ao ash strip mining area of No. 2, 9+10 and 11 coal seams in Zhongyu wellfield was carried out by using the sudden water coefficient method to identify the lithological characteristics, combination relationship, degree of fracture development, thickness of water barrier and physical and mechanical properties of rocks between each main mining coal seam and the top boundary of the Aodolite tuff in the exploration area. Based on the results of the hydrological supplemental exploration, the technical measures for water control and safe mining were proposed for each main mining seam in the exploration area.
