In view of the current situation that the low permeability of coal seams in a mine caused difficulty in gas drainage, the hydraulic punching process measures and the effects of the tests were carried out on the site. First, the equipment selection and process flow of hydraulic punching were carried out, followed by the test effect of hydraulic punching measures on gas drainage. The influence of hydraulic punching measures on the extraction radius was investigated by pressure drop method. Finally, the hydraulic punching measures were used to eliminate the outburst by residual gas content and residual gas pressure. The results showed that the hydraulic punching effect was more significant for the coal seam geological conditions of the mine, which could provide reference for similar mines.
