Abstract Aiming at the impact damage problem of the middle trough of scraper conveyor in 3310 fully mechanized working face of Shanxi Tiandi Wangpo Coal Industry Co., Ltd., the influence of the front inclination angle of the middle trough on the impact damage depth and the normal cumulative contact energy was studied by EDEM software. The results show that when the forward dip angle of the middle trough is 0, the impact of coal falling on the middle trough is the strongest, and the impact damage and normal cumulative contact energy are greater than those with forward dip angle. Upward condition is more beneficial to reduce the impact of coal falling on the middle trough than downward condition. By improving the middle trough to the uplink condition, the use time of the middle trough increased by 2 months, and achieved good application results.
