Abstract Based on problems of coal wall spalling in 3206 fully mechanized caving face of Huoerxinhe Mine, coal mining technology observation and theoretical analysis was used to analyzed reasons of well caving, stability of the mining face under different initial supporting force was analyzed by numerical simulation as well, which provided reference to improve working condition of stents and measures to prevent coal wall spalling with optimized coal mining technology and grouting reinforcement. The practice showed that these measures played an important role in purpose of preventing coal wall spalling.
