Abstract Methyl acetate is an important industrial material. As the basis of study on the synthesis of high purity methyl acetate, the reaction kinetics was experimented, which by methanol and acetic acid, using cation ion exchange resin as catalyst and reacting in temperature range 40~55 ℃ at 101.325 kPa. The experimental results were described by a model which was based on Langmuir-Hinshelwood adsorption theory in liquid phase activities. The results indicated that equilibrium constant decreased with temperature increasing because the reaction was exothermic,according to experimental data, the parameters for reaction kinetics model were estimated,activation energy of methyl acetate was 59.234 kJ·mol-1.
