In order to solve the problem of gas overruns and other safety hazards in different ventilation schemes in the deep thick coal seam mining field in Shanxi Province, a computer numerical simulation software was used to establish a Fluent numerical model to study and analyze different ventilation schemes for reducing gas volume fraction, and the U-ventilation management scheme was optimized and improved by combining the simulation results, and a field extraction verification analysis was conducted. The results showed that the large-diameter drilling scheme can change the air rheological field in the multi-lane mining area and the ghettos, and reduce the gas density in the lower part of the ghettos, and the U-ventilation governance scheme effectively improved the air rheological field through the combination of large-diameter directional drilling and large-diameter penetrating drilling and the gas extraction flow in the ghettos, and avoided the potential safety problems of gas overrun in the common ventilation system.
