Based on the exploration and test data of the Lutiantian Mine, combined with the structure-level control theory, the gas geological law in the area and the control effect of the structure on the occurrence of coal seam gas were analyzed. The analysis results showed that the gas content of coal seam in the area increased with the increase of burial depth. The tectonic evolution process in the area laid the complexity of coal seam gas occurrence in Liupanshui area and formed a background with high gas content in the area. The Panguan syncline and the Yangmeishan-Xiaoda village fault jointly controlled the occurrence of coalbed methane in the zone, the faults in the mining area dominated the difference between mine gas occurrence and regional gas occurrence, forming a high gas content in the northwest and low in the southeast, and the gas content in the middle to the north was high. The local small faults had a point-like control on the occurrence of gas, which complicated the gas distribution characteristics in the local.
