Through contrast test, the effects of sodium element to the quality of scandium oxide were investigated.The titanium oxide waste acid was extracted with P2O4, TBP and kerosene.The organic phase reacted with sodium hydroxide,scandium hydroxide was dissolved by sulfuric acid,then pH value was adjusted,the solution was hested,hydrolyzed,filtered and extracted again,organic phase was reacted with sodium hydroxide.Finally scandium hydroxide was dissolved by hydrochloric acid, sodium carbonate or ammonia was added to adjust pH value to 1 ~ 1.5, 10% oxalic acid was added,the solution was filtrated and washed, burned 1 hours at 800 ℃,the refined scandium oxide was gained. Scandium oxide content added ammonia reached 92%, but content added sodium carbonate reached 68%, so the quality of the product was affectted by sodium elements. The use of ammonia to adjust pH value were recommend.
