In order to find out the capability of theenvironmental testing laboratories of Hebei Province detect of total hydrocarbons in ambient air, identify and master the differences between the laboratories in the detection of the project, and promote the comprehensive improvement of testing capabilities, according to ISO/IEC17043: 2010 and CNAS RL02: 2010,the proficiency testing of detection of total hydrocarbons in ambient air in Hebei Province were carried out. The recommend method was 《 Ambient air-Determination of total hydrocarbons-Gas chromatographic method 》 (HJ 604-2011). The median was used as assigned value to calculate a Z-score which was used as a numerical indicator to show participants’ performance in the program. 55 laboratories participated this proficiency test,the laboratory which observed unsatisfactory result had a retested chance. The final results show that 55 laboratories participated in this activities were observed as satisfactory, and have good capability for detection of total hydrocarbons in ambient air.
