A mine shearer wheel had?tooth broken accidents after using a period of time in Yangquan Coall Group, the reason were analyzed as excessive root bending stress. Therefore, calculation formula and finite element method of traditional gear strength were used to make stress analysis and strength check of walking wheel. The results showed that bending stress of gear tooth root was too large. Comparing results from two methods, the deviation of gear stress was 8% by using traditional method and finite element method, which verified the accuracy of finite element analysis method. Under the premise of interchangeability, method of increasing walking wheel deflection coefficient was put forward to reduce bending stress, the finite element method was used to made stress analysis of road wheels under different displacement coefficients, which got appropriate displacement coefficient and provided theoretical reference for walking wheel improvement of shearers.
