Study on extraction recovery of DMF in wastewater using high-boiling point solvent

The extraction recovery technology of low consistency N-N dimethyl formamide (DMF) in wastewater using low- boiling point solvent had some problems, such as high solvent losses, serious VOC pollution, ect.. A novel extraction method of DMF in wastewater with high-boiling point solvent (octanol, iosoctanol, heptanol, 2-octanediol) was explored. The effects of temperature, ratio of phase and inorganic salts on partition coefficient and extraction coefficiency were investigated. A good extraction performance was achieved with octyl alcohol-water-DMF as extraction agent.The results show that the extraction efficiency can reach 64% by singlestage extraction at 60 ℃, 2 of O/W, 20% (wt%) of CaCl2 amount. Further more, the content of DMF in raffinate phase reaches 0.05% by three-steps extraction, that can meet the requirement of wastewater discharge.
