With dibenzyldiselenide serves as catalyst, hydrogen peroxide as oxidizing agent, the hydyoxylation of phenol was studied. The influences of a series of factors as the variety of solvent, catalyst dosage, reaction temperature and reaction time etc. on the phenol conversion and the selectivity and the yield of benzodiazepines were studied. The best reaction conditions are:m ( catalyst )∶m ( phenol ) = 1∶10, n ( hydrogen peroxide )∶n ( phenol ) = 5∶2, reaction temperature is 80℃, reaction time is 2 h, phenol conversion is 40.7 % and product selectivity is 87.0 %.
