2015 American Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award winning projects were reviewed. Six awards namely are: (1)Lanza Tech Inc. was awarded for Greener Synthetic Pathways Award because of gas fermentation process;(2)American Synthetic Oils and Lubricants of Texas were awarded for Greener Reaction Conditions Award because of using the fixed-bed reactor with a novel highly efficient solid catalyst; (3)Hybrid Coating Technologies/Nanotechnology Industry was awarded for Designing Greener Chemical Award because of the research and development of non-isocyanate polyurethane (green polyurethane);(4)Renmatix was awarded for Small Business Award because “plant rose” process was used for making sugar by supercritical water; (5)Professor Eugene Chen was awarded for Academic Award because the process that uses plant-based materials to produce renewable chemicals, liquid fuels, no waste and no metal; (6)Algenol was awarded for Specific Environmental Benefit: Climate Change Award because of sustainable ethanol and crude oil production process.
