From the origin and background  of research, the causes of coal industrial wasteland and the update using the necessity were analyzed. With general research situation at home and abroad, our country's significance in the study from abroad and the shortage of the research in our country were pointed out. Updated using the content and method of industrial wasteland was studied from physical environment update, economic update, cultural regeneration update, social update. The utilization of coal mine industrial wasteland strategy and recommendations were put forward, which provided reference for relative works.
