The development of faults in Fengfeng mining area was complex. In this paper, the spatial distribution, scale distribution, complexity zoning characteristics and multi-stage evolution process of faults were systematically explored by means of statistical quantitative analysis, fractal dimension quantitative evaluation and tectonic evolution tracing. By constructing a quantitative prediction model of fault drop-extension length, dividing the structural complexity level and zoning, and clarifying the cutting and blocking relationship of different faults, the evolution characteristics of faults in the mining area were revealed, which were ' NNE-trending dominant distribution, high-angle concentrated development, and vertical drop increasing with depth ', and a technical system of ' qualitative characterization-quantitative evaluation ' was established.
