According to the geological data of Xinyuan Coal Mine in the northeastern margin of Qinshui Basin, a comprehensive index model of mine structural complexity was constructed. Based on the fault and fold structure data, the fractal dimension value was calculated by the grid covering method, and the structural complexity zoning map was generated. The results showed that the structural complex area was distributed in NW-SE direction, concentrated in the northwest and central east of the well field ; the fractal dimension value of fault network could comprehensively reflect the influence of the number, length and combination type of faults on the complexity. The overall structural type of the mine was simple, but the complex area needed to optimize the layout of the mining area. The research results provided a quantitative basis for structural control mining and guided the mine to extend mining to the southern simple area.
