The severe deformation and failure of the 5102 working face returning roadway of Pulongwan Mine was taken as the research object. Through the site survey and analysis, the characteristics of roadway deformation and failure were obtained, and the causes of roadway deformation and damage were studied and analyzed. Factors such as unreasonable design of the protection, insufficient self-stabilization of the roadway, and poor geological conditions of the roadway were the main causes of severe deformation and damage. Combined with the actual situation of the mine, the design adopted the "bolt + anchor cable + U-shaped steel + W steel belt" coupling support scheme to achieve the synergy of the support system. The results showed that the repair support scheme effectively ensured the stability of the roadway.
