Geological characteristics of coal seams are the important basis for early mine design, mid-term mining and post-gob treatment. Reasonable mining methods and equipment selection are of great significance to medium-term exploitation efficiency and safety production. No. 2 coal seam in Baozi Mine was taken as an example, the geological characteristics of this coal seam were introduced. The mining method of coal seam was discussed. The method of tilting the long wall back-type mechanized caving coal mining method was proposed. Under the condition of the coal mining method, the equipment selection of shearer, hydraulic support and scraper conveyor in fully mechanized coal mining face was mainly carried out. Through the later production practice, the correctness of the proposed coal mining method and equipment selection was verified. The analysis methods and conclusions are also of reference for other mining methods and equipment selection.
