Based on the roadway occurrence conditions of soft and compound roof in Lijiahao Mine, 2-2 and 3-1 coal seam were taken as study object, the roof stability was analyzed. In case of abrupt fracture of soft and compound roof, elastic potential energy was released, with possible impact ground stress leading to casualty, damage law of roof subsidence, plastic zone and ionosphere were studied by site observation, numerical simulation and engineering. The result showed that stress wave disturbance led to shear failure of roof, the damage range much larger than un-disturbed condition, with increasingly roof subsidence and ionospheric volume. The research provided scientific reference for reasonable support and roof disaster control.
