In order to solve the problem in mining of Face No.2222, the spalling characteristics of large mining height rise mining face with large inclined angle were obtained by way of field observations. On the basis of the analysis of the mechanism for rib spalling, the treatment method of decreasing the coalwall pressure and increasing the strength of the coal wall were put forward. At last the means of coal wall grouting, the support reformation and so on, the Face No.2222 was successfully recovered, which can provide reference for mining under similar conditions.
