Oil and gas coexist in coal bearing strata and are unusually poured out in the process of roadway mining in Huangling mining area. To study the oil-bearing properties of coal bed surrounding rock in mining area, the gas logging data was collected. The methods of hydrocarbon ratio and triangle chart were used to comprehensively identify the hydrocarbon fluid properties of reservoirs on the basis of total hydrocarbon and gas abnormal multiples. The identifying results show that the total hydrocarbon and the hydrocarbon balance ratio of sandstone reservoirs are smaller, but the hydrocarbon humidity ratio is bigger and the triangle chart index is in small or inverted triangle range. So the reservoir fluid types are more inclined to oil and oil-associated gas. The identifying results based on gas logging interpretation can be used for prediction of high gas area and guide the mine gas drainage operation in the coal mine.
