In this paper, the macronutrient and mineralogical characteristics of high organic sulfur coals from the Heshan coalfield's Heriroshan and Shicun mines were investigated using microscope, scanning electron microscopy with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (XRF). The results showed that the more alkaline, the weaker hydrodynamic conducive to the enrichment of organic sulfur. However, when geochemical parameters were used to judge the medium conditions of peat aggregation, a comprehensive analysis was needed. In addition to kaolinite, chlorite, illite, illite/smectite, quartz, calcite, dolomite and pyrite, some trace minerals were also found in coal: gypsum, siderite, rutile, potassium feldspar and zeolite. Their appearance indicated that the formation of high sulfur coal in Heshan coalfield was related to a certain degree of thermal action.
