The main coal-bearing strata in the Hetangou minefield in the Baotou Shiguai area is the L-group coal seam of the Mesozoic Lower Wudanggou Formation. Based on the analysis of coal rock hand specimens and geological fissure mapping in the study area, it could be found that the micro-fracture development density in coal reservoirs was high, and the matrix pores and fracture systems were communicated, the endogenous fissures were abnormally developed, the calcites in the exogenous joints were the filling of the veins and the pulverized coal particles that have affected the conductivity. By comprehensive analysis and evaluation, the extensive existence of micro-fractures and endogenous fissures had a positive effect on the improvement of coal reservoir permeability.
