The cutter-type picks used in the coal mining machine of Changzhi Jingfang Mine often failed, which seriously affected the production of the working face. Aiming at this problem, the causes of the failure of the miner type pick and the main failure modes were analyzed. The improvement measures of the cutter picks were proposed from the aspects of design, process and use. Field practice showed that the improved pick had excellent performance, reduced the probability of pick failure, and improved production efficiency.
