Abstract Stability characteristics of roadway surrounding rock were analyzed, basic principle of grey system was studied, GM(1, 1)of prediction model of deformation of surrounding rock of mine roadway was set up. The result shows that check differential ratio after the deformation of surrounding rock was 0.1396, with first accuracy class. The technology enables to provide guidance for mining and surrounding rock control. The system was confined to short time prediction when prediction sequence length is long.
