Abstract In order to solve the mining problems such as difficult roof control and insufficient support resistance in the super-long soft roof working face of Wutongzhuang Mine, taking the 182605 working face of the mine as the research background, the main technical parameters of the hydraulic support were determined by means of geological data investigation, theoretical calculation and numerical simulation, and the hydraulic support of the working face under the mining conditions was reasonably selected. The results show that the support strength of the support should not be less than 0.823 MPa, the initial support force is determined to be 5 232 kN, and the working resistance reaches 6 400 kN to meet the safe mining. Finally, the ZZ6400/19/42D four-column shield hydraulic support is selected. Through the field practice effect, the support has a good control effect on the soft roof and large dip angle, the anti-fall and anti-skid performance and the mining height range increase, and the economic benefit is good.
