| Optimization of stoping design of island working face in extra thick coal seam |

Abstract In order to realize the rapid stoping of fully mechanized caving face in extra-thick coal seam and further shorten the stoping time, the steel wire rope was used to replace part of the support in 8102 isolated island working face of Tongxin Coal Mine. Under the premise of ensuring safety, the stoping support was optimized. Compared with the previous support scheme of the traditional working face, a part of the steel wire rope and 6.3 m anchor cable were added, 73 3.8 m I-steels were reduced, 786 8.3 m anchor cables were reduced, and 584 2.8 m anchor bolts were reduced. The overall material cost and labor cost were saved by CNY 706 million. 8102 isolated island working face only completed all stop mining support in 12 days, saving 5.6 days on average, and realized rapid stop mining, which provided experience for rapid stop mining of fully mechanized caving face in extra thick coal seam in Datong mining area.
