Abstract Datong coalfield is the main coal base in China, which hosts Jurassic and Carboniferous-Permian coal seams. Now the development of Jurassic coal resources is coming to an end. It is gradually transferring to Carboniferous-Permian coal seam mining. The hydrogeological conditions of its mining have changed greatly, and the mine water-filling factors need to be further clarified urgently. Based on the analysis and study of the hydrogeological conditions and water control work of some Carboniferous-Permian mines in Datong Coalfield, this paper concludes that ① three-dimensional detection and comprehensive exploration and drainage technology can be used to control the water accumulation in Jurassic goaf; ② the detection and research of the underlying structure should be strengthened in the floor karst water, and the key areas can be blocked and reformed by grouting in the mine where the conditions are available.
