Abstract The sevoflurane organic molecular structure was characterized by the infrared (IR) spectrum including transmission IR spectrum (T-IR spectrum), attenuated total reflection IR spectrum (ATR-IR spectrum) and diffuse reflectance IR spectrum (DR-IR pectrum). There were CH2 asymmetry stretch vibration mode (ν■), CH2 symmetry stretch vibration mode (ν■), CF3 asymmetry stretch vibration mode (ν■), CF3 symmetry stretch vibration mode (ν■) and C-F stretch vibration mode (νCF-sevoflurane). It is founded that the spectrum quality of T-IR spectrum is better than ATR-IR spectrum and DR-IR spectrum. It is paper demonstrated the key roles of IR spectrum in the analysis of structure of the important inhalational anesthetics (sevoflurane).
