Abstract Based on the characteristics of the coke oven in the coking plant of the west district of Handan Iron and Steel Corporation Ltd., based on the structure and production process of the original coke oven, the new spiral coil type riser heat exchanger was designed, recovering the waste heat of the waste gas. The system was applied to the 39th hole of No. 1 coke oven in Coking Plant of Handan Iron and Steel Corporation Ltd., and the operation data of 9 coking cycles were tested. The experimental results showed that the device can recover the waste gas well without affecting the production process. The waste heat provides a new method for the development and utilization of waste heat from coke oven waste gas.
