Abstract Based on the theoretical study of geological structure evolution law and gas accumulation mechanism, a qualitative and quantitative analysis on the influence of gas accumulation rules, such as buried depth, geological structure, rock character of roof and floor, hydrogeology, etc. in chongsheng coal mine was made. The results showed that the buried depth of coal seam was the main controlling factor influencing the change of gas content (or gas occurrence), followed by the geological structure of the region and well field and the overburden rock lithology of coal seam. The research results exerted practical guiding significance to the safe production of mine.
