Abstract Shenfu ultrafine coal powder and urban sewage sludgeas as the adsorbent preparation materials by microwave carbonization method. Investigates the sludge and coal mass ratio, microwave power, microwave carbonization time, alkali carbon ratio, activation temperature and activation time on the adsorption properties of activated carbon. Performance of the absorbent was characterized based on pore structure analysis and simulated wastewater treatment experiment. It was shown that appropriate microwave power for the adsorbent preparation is 800 W, carbonization time 12 min, alkali to carbon ratio 3:1,activation temperature 550℃,activation time 2 h, iodine value of the corresponding adsorbent is 786.36 mg/g,BET surface area is 251.78 m2/g,dye wastewater removal rate is 67%.
