Abstract Gas is the important factors affecting coal seam mining, there are many factors influencing the characteristics of coal seam gas. Characteristics of gas content and influencing factors in Yushen Mine were tested and analyzed, the result showed that Yushen Mine gas content was low, far less than 1 m3 / t, the main ingredients of N2, CH4 and CO2 was less, had the characteristics of low gas mines. Meanwhile, relative factors influencing Yushen Mine gas content were analyzed, the result showed that its main control factor was coal metamorphism and buried depth of coal seam, low coal metamorphism stage and shallow coal seam buried depth restricted coal gas and adsorbability.
