Abstract Taking the control technology of high stress weak broken composite surrounding rock as the research target, in-depth analysis of Zhangcun mine roadway in which the surrounding rock features and the cause of the instability of support structure were deeply analyzed. Application of the targeted technology research route with the field actual, based on the instability characteristics with different roadway, the comprehensive measures of the system of high strength long bolting, the closed support of the square annular heavy U-shaped steel, grouting reinforcement of weak broken surrounding rock and so on were applied to solve the problems of repeated maintenance and destruction in the west wing of -200m level. The research provided a new technical way of the roadway maintenance and surrounding rock control under very complex geological conditions.
