Zinc oxide（ZnO） is one of the important additives in the rubber industry. The action mechanism of zinc oxide as vulcanizing agent, activator, cross-linking agent, anti-aging agent, heat stabilizer and colorant in rubber production was reviewed, illustrated with examples the specific applications of zinc oxide rubber in tires and seals. Ited research status and shortcomings were analyzed in the ZnO rubber industry, and prospects for its application was provided.
