Abstract: Reasonable width of section coal pillar is of great significance to ensure safe production of working face. Based on the engineering background of 3804 working face in Shandong Yiqiao Coal Mine, this paper studies the reasonable width of coal pillar in deep working face affected by roof breaking. The results show that the main controlling factors affecting the stability of section coal pillar are burial depth, fault structure and coal seam thickness. By theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and field microseismic monitoring, the reasonable width of coal pillar in No. 3804 Face of Yiqiao Coal Mine is determined to be 60m. The research results provide experience for the section coal pillar retention of working face under similar conditions.
