In order to realize the efficient and rapid transportation of gangue solids from the surface to the underground in large vertical depth mines, a new wear-resistant buffer needs to be developed. Firstly, the velocity of the gangue particles at the bottom of the feeding hole and the impact force size on the buffer were calculated by various ways. The buffer principle was analyzed in detail, and the buffer was determined to be an umbrella structure, divided into several parts such as umbrella cap, umbrella bottom and support plate. Based on the analysis of buffer wear factors, a new type of multi-dimensional low-alloy wear-resistant steel was developed for the buffer, which can significantly improve the service life of the buffer.
