Based on the specific situation of dramatic underground pressure of mining face in some mine,The rule of overlying strata movement and caving characteristics of fully mechanized face with large mining height in ups and downs of coal seam were studied through theoretical analysis,numerical modeling etc al. The study showed that: inclined mining stope roof was not easy to form the structure, mining basic roof forming structure was larger, working face was prone to rib spalling and roof caving, inclined mining was helpful to control the stability of the coal wall and ending face. The down inclined mining was recommended during advance of the face, which provided theory and data support for the similar working face under the condition of smooth recovery.
