It is the focus of current energy saving and emission reduction policy that reducing coal consumption and developing substitute energy materials. Desulfurization gypsum-red mud-iron gangue and an activating agent were mixed at a certain ratio(coal polymeric addition material), then the coal was added into the mixture by a certain proportion, which was according to CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-CaSO4 quarternary phase diagram. Due to the solid phase chemical reaction of the coal polymeric addition material and coal ash in the boiler, a part of coal was substituted and the pollutant emission was reduced. The results show that the mainly products of the solid phase reaction of the coal polymeric addition material and coal ash are CaO·SiO2, CaO·Al2O3·2SiO2 and 3CaO·3Al2O3·CaSO4; DSC test indicates there is an obviously exothermic peak at 400 ~ 700 ℃ of the coal polymeric addition material and coal ash mixture, and the exothermic heat is about 1 300 ~1 500 kCal/kg. Practical application results show that: the coal polymeric addition material can substitute 5% ~ 15% coal, which coal caloricity was 3 000 ~ 5 000 kcal/kg, and the SO2 concentration in the flue gas decreases significantly; after adding the coal polymeric addition material, there is nearly no influence on the fly ash composition, and the new generations are mainly existence in the slag.
