In response to the problems of no disclosure evaluation data in the two coal seams of the new mine A and B, and the scarcity and poor reliability of the geological survey borehole data, the relevant evaluation parameters such as the solidity coefficient, gas dispersion initial velocity, seam gas pressure and coal damage type of the adjacent coal seams belonging to the same gas geological unit were selected to evaluate the coal seams of the new mines. The results of the regression analysis with the depth of burial showed that the A and B seams were shallow at 574 m and 180 m, respectively, and the evaluation parameters do not simultaneously reach or exceed the critical values. Neighbouring coal seam data played an important role in the assessment in new mines.
