The structure of sodium carbonate(Na2CO3) was studied by attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR). Four kinds of infrared absorption modes as CO3 asymmetrical stretch vibrationmode (νasCO3), CO3 symmetrical stretching vibration mode (νsCO3), CO3 out-of-plane bending vibration mode (rCO3) and CO3 in-plane bending vibration mode (βCO3) were also found in Na2CO3 inthe experiment. The effect of variable temperature on the Na2CO3 molecularstructurewas studied. The results show that in the temperature range from 303 K to 393 K, the Na2CO3 molecular exhibits excellent thermostability.
