Due to the limitation of field conditions, the test of braking force has always been difficult for the overhead passenger device in coal mine. In order to test the braking force conveniently and quickly, a set of braking force test method is proposed in this paper. A wire rope clamp is specially designed, which is stuck on the wire rope of the overhead passenger device as the focus of the braking force test on the equipment. The equipment is small and flexible, which can flexibly select the appropriate test position, disperse the test tension, reduce the requirements for the force point, and reduce the damage to the equipment.
