In order to obtain the characteristics of coal-bearing strata in the Liupanshui area of western Guizhou, a statistical analysis of the geological conditions of 15 high-yield mines in Liupanshui area was carried out using literature survey and statistical methods, and the statistical evaluation indicators include coal-bearing strata, geological structures, coal seam thickness, layer spacing, roof and floor conditions, gas characteristics, and the danger of coal and gas outburst. Research shows that the coal strata in the Liupanshui area are dominated by the Upper Permian Longtan Formation, and the synclinal structure is the coal-rich geological structure in the area. The recoverable coal seams are mainly thin and medium-thick coal seams, and gently inclined or inclined seams. The distance between most coal seams is less than 30 m, which is a close-range coal seam. The average apparent density of coal is 1.467g / cm3, and the average porosity is 4.306%. The coal quality is characterized by extremely low total moisture, low to medium volatiles, and relatively high ash, but the volatiles and ash separation are relatively dispersed. The coal mines in Liupanshui area are generally high gas and outburst mines; the gas content tends to increase with the depth of the coal seam and the thickness of the coal strata, but they are also discrete; the gas pressure of the same coal seam is related to the gas volume. In addition, the gas in the driving workface should be taken seriously.
