Coal gangue and coal produced together when mining in Z56151 working surface which included parting layer. In order to test density and recovery ratio of coal and gangue, method of the lab tests was adopted. 30 groups of coal and gangue samples were prepared and 60 groups were tested, which showed that density of coal was 1434 kg / m3, and gangue density was 1962 kg / m3. Finally, numerical model of coal gangue ratio was built. According to known data and laboratory test data, percentage of coal in the mixture was calculated as 81 %, percentage of gangue was 19 %, and coal and gangue ratio was about 4∶1.
