Qigai coal pillar working face faces complicated geological conditions, overhand mining with 260 m is needed in the recovery, average overhead mining angle is 30°, maximum 36°. Working face roof management, difficulty of support movement, mining machine cutting and loading, coal wall rib spalling were the most difficult control. Based on this problem, engineering and technical staff developed technological breakthrough, overhead mining and coal wall rib spalling full-mechanized caving mining face control technology was summarized, which effectively solved overhead mining working face technology problem and provided practice and experience for similar working face.
