The antibiotic fermentation residue is now defined as "hazardous waste" by national environmental protection department, leading to the result that manufacturers must study the processing methods. Antibiotic fermentation residue belongs to medium waste that produced during the production process of chemical active ingredient, the current technologies on harmless treatment of antibiotic fermentation residue composing gas were introduced. It is pointed out that fertilizer technology is the most effective way to solve the bulk antibiotic fermentation residue disposal problem, the use of antibiotic fermentation residue to produce organic fertilizer is a suitable application for disposal, but at present, safety testing research on antibiotic fermentation residue degradation toxicity is not comprehensive. If antibiotic fermentation residue cannot be totally processed, organic fertilizer in production may contain residual antibiotics and metabolic intermediate products etc..
