Gob-side entrydriving narrow coal pillar roadway was applied in China earlier, the coal pillar width was not understood in unit, the coal pillar width differed from 1~5 m to 20~30 m in some mines. In order to reduce the surrounding rock moving rate, so that stabilizing the roadway and reducing the coal cost, the coal pillar width was apposed to be more smaller. But, with too narrow coal pillar, which was prone to deform quickly after opening roadway and anchor bolt Installed in crushed surrounding rock to decrease anchorage force and anchor supporting effect. Based on this problem, through the narrow roadway protection coal pillar stability analysis, reasonable width of coal pillar was settled, roadway support design was optimized based on it, which got good technical and economic benefits and provided the reference for gob-side entrydriving under similar conditions.
